When Two Group Members Clash

Public repair vs private. Neutrality is a skill, not a personality.

Clash is data. Taking a side is a leak. Hold the room is the long version. This is the 90-second repair. The tools will not mediate. 1:1-to-group did not teach this. If the clash is really scope creep (unpaid extra), name that later — not in the circle.

Public vs Private

Public if the room saw it: 60-second repair, then back to the contract. Private if it is history, identity, or a dual role. “We’ll take this off-line. The room stays on [today’s job].”

The Public Repair

“I heard two things. Both can be true. We’re not going to try this here. Next: [contract].”

Then move. Neutrality is the clock, not a smile.

Conflict

Where Coaches Break

  • Processing the fight for 20 minutes so everyone “feels heard.” The cohort is not couples therapy.
  • DMing one person “you were right.” That’s a side.

The 3-Minute Action

Write the public repair and the off-line line on the run-of-show. Practice them once out loud.
