The Discovery Call Script That Converts Strangers to Clients

You booked the call. Now close it. A simple discovery call structure that turns a conversation into a signed client.

Getting the discovery call is half the battle. The other half is not talking yourself out of the sale. Most coaches over-explain and under-ask.

The 3-Part Structure

  1. Connect (2 min) — “What made you book this call today?”
  2. Diagnose (10 min) — ask about the problem, the cost of staying stuck, what they’ve already tried.
  3. Enroll (3 min) — name the gap, present your program as the bridge, ask for the yes.

You should talk 30% of the time. If you’re past that, you’re performing instead of listening.

The Close

End with one question, not a pitch:

“Based on what you told me, this is exactly the kind of work we’d do together. Want to start this week or next?”

Silence after that is your friend. Let them fill it.

Mistakes That Lose the Sale

  • Offering three packages and making them choose — decision paralysis.
  • Discounting before they ask.
  • Following up with “just checking in” instead of a specific next step.

The 3-Minute Action

Write your diagnosis questions (3–5). Rehearse the enroll line until it’s natural. Book your next call.

When the skeleton isn’t enough, the 90-second open is the paid-hour version. Discovery enrolls. The hour delivers.
